Saturday 05 October
Ensbury Avenue, Bournemouth - 10am - 2 Hours
Ahana Byregowda
In this workshop, we will explore the art of creating beautiful and intricate mandala designs.

Our experienced instructor will guide you through the process of drawing mandalas, with a focus on the different elements that make up these stunning circular designs. We will cover topics such as symmetry, patterns, and repetition, and provide you with step-by-step instructions to create your own mandalas.

You will learn techniques for creating intricate designs using simple shapes and patterns, including using rulers and compasses to create precise circles and lines.

A mandala is a complex abstract design that is usually circular in form. Traditionally, a mandala is a geometric design or pattern that represents the cosmos or deities in various heavenly worlds.

Title or Location: Sunset at Boukari Harbour, Corfu
I started painting 6 years ago after attending a paint night at a local bar (just for fun) in Vancouver, Canada, where I had been living. I was addicted! Youtube videos have been a great way to learn and grow. The journey has been frustrating at times but it has also become my stress relieving activity.I visited Corfu at the beginning of June and loved the sunsets at this location in the South East of the Island. When I look at skies, clouds , water etc I am always imagining how to paint them

Title or Location: Staithes
I was very good at art when i was at school. I never really took this up in later life until i was married and had a bolt-hole, or den, of my own. So i bought some water colour books to learn from. I feel i was taught badly at school. For example, rules such as never to include figures in your art work, or never use a ruler. So in my 40's I decided to break some of these rules and start painting again. This picture of Staithes was taken from a book by David Bellamy I think, and was one of

Title or Location: My Muse
My 6 year old beagle Luna has been like a soul mate to me, she was bought as a gift for me after I experienced a serious spinal injury - cauda equina syndrome followed by many spinal operations. My life completely changed in 2017 and I became pretty much housebound , Luna has been my constant companion and the greatest source of healing for me. I believe she found her way to me for this very reason. Art has also played a huge part in my healing journey, its helped me keep my mind and creat

Title or Location: Majestic Lion
I painted this Lion portrait as a miniature of just 65mm. It was taken from an photo by an African Safari photographer friend of mine that allowed me to use it as my reference. I have produced a range of miniatures this size from the animals in the Luangwa National Park and put them into print to sell. All the profits go to the Conservation South Luangwa charity in Zambia. This group help protect wildlife from poaching, bush meat killings and involve, educate, and pay the locals to become range

Title or Location: Fields and Skies Blewbury Oxfordshire
A friend asked me to create a painting for her to give to her sister as wedding gift. She sent me some some ideas of colour pallettes she liked and I used a photo I had taken of the landscape in Oxfordshire as inspiration. I painted the whole canvas bright pink first and let it dry and then painted on top.

Title or Location: Charlie Fox
In this painting I wanted to convey the intensity of the fox's stare - that something has caught his eye and he is standing perfectly still watching it! I am always intrigued with how light hits a subject - this is why I love using oil paints as you can get such a depth of colour (I layer up the colours) and then the last few brushstrokes are the highlights and that is when the magic happens!

Title or Location: Lucy
This is Lucy, one of our favorite family dogs. She is the sweetest pooch and loves to ride in the car, windows opened. She is in her glory as her ears catch the wind and almost smiles. I tried to capture her wonderful nature in this watercolor painting. I used very heavy pigment to give detail to her fur. I so love the many styles watercolor allows you to create. It is one of my favorite paintings because, I Love Lucy:)

Title or Location: Adventure Awaits
This scene is from an early morning boat ride in New Hampshire - we had been here a couple of times over the last few years. It was so quiet and the water so still . The early morning fog had not lifted and people were still not stirring. I snapped a photo when I saw this scene with the colorful leaves framing the waiting boats. I knew I would paint this one day. It?s a 24 x 30 gallery wrapped oil painting. It can be seen at the Elizabethan Gallery.

This is a detail style (aka meticulous style) painting done on a sized shuen paper known as glass paper. Sumi ink and a small brush are used to draw the outlines and a layer of ink washes are added for shading.
