Speed Landscape Drawing and Painting

Speed Landscape Drawing and Painting

Saturday 13 July
Ensbury Avenue, Bournemouth - 10am - 2 Hours
Anna Herpels
The focus of this two-hour structured session is "speed" and "form", i.e. capturing the essence of a subject. You will be guided to complete some "warm-up" colour and drawing exercises and prepared for doing ink and watercolour-based painting in the session. You will learn how to quickly sketch and capture multiple subjects in the garden with ink and wash technique. You will be advised to keep things rather loose and time your drawing/painting.
You will have a chance to meet and greet like-minded people, choose your own subjects in the garden and be guided to complete the exercises, and artwork and have some takeaway homework with the learned technique. All levels and experiences are welcome.

With a long history in Interior and Graphic Design I have over the past few years began to use my computer and design experience in developing a process of digital matrix on a varied array of background material into attractive modes of printed art. My current style is is to create a 4 piece set of artwork printed A3 in size, laminated ready for mounting and or framing by the buyer. My 6 year old beagle Luna has been like a soul mate to me, she was bought as a gift for me after I experienced a serious spinal injury - cauda equina syndrome followed by many spinal operations. My life completely changed in 2017 and I became pretty much housebound , Luna has been my constant companion and the greatest source of healing for me. I believe she found her way to me for this very reason. Art has also played a huge part in my healing journey, its helped me keep my mind and creat

I painted this Lion portrait as a miniature of just 65mm. It was taken from an photo by an African Safari photographer friend of mine that allowed me to use it as my reference. I have produced a range of miniatures this size from the animals in the Luangwa National Park and put them into print to sell. All the profits go to the Conservation South Luangwa charity in Zambia. A friend asked me to create a painting for her to give to her sister as wedding gift. She sent me some some ideas of colour pallettes she liked and I used a photo I had taken of the landscape in Oxfordshire as inspiration. I painted the whole canvas bright pink first and let it dry and then painted on top.

Title or Location: The King
I painted this at the time of the Coronation. I did with without much forethought but on reflection and in convesations with others I think there is a message regarding my own take on the monarchy. I've painted Charles looking pensive and solomn as I imagine he thinks about the role he acquires but also the loss of his mother. The style is slightly punky which hails back to my memories of Sex Pistols and a bit anarchic. Positively, 'God save the King' is an appeal that he experiences divine fav

This piece was hand carved by me using knives and gouges in my shop in Zachary LaThis piece is done in Alaskan Cottonwood Bark. The bark is only harvest from dead trees. The best bark comes from a cold weather climate where it grows thick to help protect the tree. This is what?s known as a wood spirit carving loosely based off the medieval myth that sprits were in the woods to protect the forest. Travelers would carve faces in their walking sticks to please the spirits for safe passage th

After several attempts at deconstructing the real flower, they die overnight, I was able to recreate her beauty out of several different grams of crepe paper. By painting and adding the details. Success. Natures beauty is such an inspiration.
